Puconci, seit 1995 auch der Gemeindesitz, ist eine
Haufensiedlung unter den Abhängen des Hügellandes
am Bach Ma~kovski potok, das sich in die Richtung
von Sebeborci und [alamenci ausbreitet. In den historischen
Quellen wird es als Monakofolua (1365) und
Pyczonych (1499) erwähnt. Der Ort bekam seine
typische geistige Prägung durch die evangelische religiöse
und kulturelle Überlieferung, denn hier ist seit
1783 die größte slowenische evangelische Kirchengemeinde
tätig, in der u.a. auch bekannte evangelische
Autoren vom Prekmurje, z.B. [tevan Sijarto, Aleksander
Terplan, Rudolf Cipot und Adam Luthar tätig waren.
Heute wird der Ort urbanisiert und wegen der Zuwanderung
auch intensiv weiterentwickelt, wozu insbesondere
die örtliche Wirtschaft, deren Rückgrad die Unternehmen
Kema, Benkotehna, Center za ekolo{ko ravnanje
z odpadki, Kühlanlage und Betonwerk – davor war
lange Zeit hier ein Ziegelwerk (gegründet 1900) tätig –
bilden, beiträgt. Die hiesige Grundschule hat 27 Abteilungen
und in ihrem Rahmen ist auch der Kindergarten
mit 12 Abteilungen tätig. Eine ehrwürdige Tradition im
Ort hat auch die Vereinstätigkeit, denn schon zwischen
den beiden Weltkriegen war hier der Verein bäuerlichen
Jungen und Mädchen tätig, der die Theater- und Gesangstätigkeit
pflegte. Heute sind in Puconci die Freiwillige
Feuerwehr (gegründet 1892), Kultur- und Tourismusverein,
Tischtennisklub Kema (gehört schon seit
Jahren zu den Führenden im slowenischen Tischtennis),
Fußballklub Kema, Gesangverein Zarja, Imkerverein,
Rentnerverein u.a.m. tätig. Der kulturgeschichtliche
Stolz des Ortes sind die evangelische Kirche, erbaut
im Jahr 1784, Anlage der ehemaligen evangelischen
Schule und das Ehrenmal „Spametnost“. Aus Puconci
stammen der Universitätsprofessor und Schriftsteller
Frank Bükvi~, Dichter und Schriftsteller Drago Kuhar
sowie pädagogischer Schriftsteller [tevan Lülik (siehe
noch S. 24,26). Im [tefan Kuzmi~-Gedenkhaus befindet
sich eine Dauerausstellung der Werke der protestantischen
Literatur von Prekmurje mit einer Filmvorführung
über den Protestantismus

The seat of the municipality since 1995, the village
of Puconci is a clustered settlement in the flatlands
located beneath the steep slopes near the stream of
Ma~kovci and extending towards the villages Sebeborci
and [alamenci. Historical sources refer to it
as Monakofolua (1365) and Pyczonych (1499). It
was heavily influenced by the religious and cultural
tradition of the Lutheran church and has been the
seat of the largest Lutheran congregation in Slovenia
since 1783. Famous members of the congregation
include writers such as [tevan Sijarto, Aleksander
Terplan, Rudolf Cipot and Adam Luthar. The village
is nowadays becoming increasingly urbanized
and is rapidly developing due to a growing population.
Its development is also due to the growing economy,
the pillars of which are the companies Kema
and Benko-tehna, the Centre for ecological waste
management, cooling facilities, and a batch plant.
A brickyard also operated here in the past (established
in 1900). The local elementary school has 27
departments and a kindergarten. Organized social
life here has had a long history – in the period between
the world wars, the Association of Young
Countrymen and Countrywomen fostered here a
theatrical and musical tradition. Today, the village is
home to a volunteer fire brigade (founded in 1892),
a culture-and-tourism association, the Kema Table
Tennis Club (for years a leading club in the national
league), the Kema Football Club, the Zarja choir, an
apiculture society, a retirees association, etc. The
local points of pride are the Lutheran church built
in 1784, the facilities of the Lutheran school, which
used to operate here, and the memorial sculpture
’Spametnost’. Puconci is the birthplace of university
professor and writer Frank Bükvi~, poet and writer
Drago Kuhar, and teacher and educational writer
[tevan Lülik (see p. 24, 26). The memorial home of
[tefan Küzmi~ houses a permanent collection of
works of Protestant literature from Prekmurje and
shows a documentary on Protestantism.
